This position is suited to a graduate RF or electronic engineer, looking to apply their knowledge in a technically challenging environment. You will support the design, layout, and release of microwave and millimetre-wave integrated circuits, working closely with RF designers, device engineers, and process engineers. The role offers clear technical progression and would suit someone who is excited to contribute meaningfully from day one. You will have experienced experts to learn from.
Technical Scope
- MMIC layout and mask design for RF and microwave circuits
- Translation of RF schematics into manufacturable layout artwork, including arrayed reticle designs
- Support of internal technology development programmes alongside Device and Process Engineering
- Contribution to design reviews, fab release activities, and mask acceptance
- Development and maintenance of Process Design Kits (PDKs), including design rules and layout cells
- Maintenance of Process Control Monitor (PCM) structures for process tracking and yield analysis
- Technical interaction with external fabs and mask vendors
Essential Technical Background
- Degree in Electronic Engineering, RF/Microwave Engineering, Physics, or a closely related discipline
- RF and microwave fundamentals (S-parameters, impedance matching, transmission lines)
- Working understanding of semiconductor devices and integrated circuit concepts
- Experience using CAD tools and the ability to resolve complex spatial layout problems
- High attention to detail and comfort working to strict design rules and documentation standards
Highly Desirable
- Exposure to MMICs or RF IC design (GaAs, GaN, InP)
- Familiarity with layout verification concepts (DRC, LVS)
- Experience or aptitude for scripting/programming (e.g. Python, SKILL, Tcl) to support design automation
- Awareness of how manufacturing constraints impact RF performance and yield

Engineers are encouraged to take ownership of defined tasks and grow into broader responsibility over time. Progression typically leads toward:
- Senior MMIC Layout Engineer
- RF IC / MMIC Design Engineer
- PDK or Technology Development Specialist
