We are looking for a Control Systems Engineer to work on programming, diagnosing, and optimising electrical control systems across a wide range of products. This role is a junior position which offers hands-on involvement in system design, troubleshooting, and electrical modifications, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

The ideal candidate will have a background from university or work experience in control or embedded systems, and electrical understanding.

Key Responsibilities
  • Programming & Testing – Develop, configure, and test electrical systems for a diverse range of products.
  • Fault Diagnosis – Identify and resolve electrical and programming-related issues within build, test, and service.
  • CAN Communication – Work with CANopen and J1939 protocols for system integration and optimisation.
  • Parameter Setting – Configure sensors, nodes, telematics, displays, and other system components.
  • Documentation & Reporting – Create technical documents, maintain data sheets, and log programming updates.
  • PLC Programming & Circuit Modifications – Design and develop new systems, ensuring efficient control processes.
  • Field Support – Assist service teams with troubleshooting, including occasional travel across the UK and internationally.
  • Workload Management – Prioritise daily tasks and ensure smooth execution of projects.
What We’re Looking For
  • Degree or relevant qualification in electrical engineering, control systems, or PLC programming.
  • Experience with CAN communication & J1939 protocol is essential.
  • Knowledge of CoDeSys 2.3 / 3.5 is desirable.
  • Strong fault-finding skills within electrical systems.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics & wiring diagrams.
  • Keen problem solver with a strong learning mindset.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to explain technical issues to teams and engineers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
