The Company: Our client is a specialist engineering and technology business operating as part of one of the world's leading commercial vehicle manufacturers. They design and produce powertrain commercial vehicles, working with a range of niche and major vehicle manufacturers across the industry.

The Role: As Area Sales Manager, you will be the commercial engine across your territory, managing dealer relationships, working on new business in the independent aftermarket, and delivering against real revenue and margin targets.

What you will own:

  • Taking full ownership of all sales opportunities and issues raised by dealers, with a consistent focus on incremental growth
  • Coaching and supporting dealer aftermarket sales teams through structured visit plans, weekly business calls, and monthly meetings with dealer parts managers and salesforces
  • Conducting regular planned visits to dealers, sub-dealers, workshops, and local OEMs in line with a structured territory calendar
  • Delivering accurate, timely sales forecasts to management, identifying risks, opportunities, and variances from plan with root cause analysis and proposed corrective actions
  • Contributing competitive and customer demand insights to inform future product planning decisions
  • Achieving monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets in both turnover and margin for your assigned area
  • Presenting, negotiating, and formalising yearly contracts with customers and dealers
  • Expanding sales penetration within the Independent Aftermarket (IAM), scouting new customers and developing new channels
  • Providing dealers and customers with regular performance updates and managing incentive programmes to drive target achievement
  • Analysing and sharing KPIs across sell-in, sell-out, stock management, performance by commodity and channel, and competitor benchmarks
  • Co-developing and monitoring sales and marketing action plans with dealer partners, from assessing business potential through to defining customer prospecting strategies

Who we are looking for:

  • Degree in Engineering, Economics, or equivalent
  • Solid knowledge of powertrain products
  • Familiarity with sales and negotiation techniques
  • Previous experience in a similar field sales or area management role, with exposure to finance, credit risk control, and international business rules and procedures
  • Strong coaching skills and proven ability to work effectively within a team
  • Results-oriented mindset with a logical, structured approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring high levels of satisfaction
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and self-confidence
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%
  • Strong English language skills

Desirable:

  • Proficiency in additional languages considered a strong advantage
  • Experience working within OEM, dealer network, or Tier 1 commercial vehicle structures
  • Familiarity with aftermarket parts distribution and stock management
