Salary NJC 7 - NJC 13 £27,316 - £30,145 (FTE). Actual Starting Salary £20,145 - £22,232.

Location: Torlands Academy, Exeter, EX4 1PT. This is a Permanent, Part Time vacancy that will close in 15 days at 23:59 GMT.

The Vacancy:

  • 32 Hours - Monday to Friday - Term Time Only.
  • Expected Start Date ASAP.

We are looking to appoint an outstanding and committed Learning Support Mentor who embodies our Trust values; candidates who have diverse experience, as well as a passion for working with young people with additional needs.

The Learning Support Mentor supports the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning, enabling positive progress and achievement for all pupils. Working closely with class teachers, you will provide academic, emotional and behavioural support within a structured and engaging learning environment. The role includes supporting pupils across the curriculum, promoting inclusion, maintaining positive behaviour in line with Academy policies and contributing to assessment and planning. You will help prepare learning spaces, observe and monitor pupil progress and provide pastoral support throughout the school day. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference within a supportive and inclusive school community.

About The Academy:

Torlands Academy is a medical provision that provides education for children and young people with complex medical and/or mental health needs which prevent them from attending school. We pride ourselves in providing pupils with access to high quality education, ensuring they are thoroughly prepared for the next stage in their learning journey. Personalisation is the cornerstone of our pedagogy; the curriculum is bespoke and programmes are crafted to meet individual needs which demands a totally flexible and adaptable approach to teaching and learning from all involved. Torlands provides personalised education through a combination of teaching at our centre in Exeter (Merrivale), small group teaching, online learning and 1:1 teaching.

About Wave Trust:

Wave are an established and successful Multi Academy Trust, comprising of Alternative Provision Academies (APAs), Medical Academies (including Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s child and adolescent mental health unit ‘Sowenna’) and a Special Academy.
