About Wave Antiques
Based in the heart of Hatton Garden, Wave Antiques is an independent, design-led jeweller with five generations of expertise. We offer a thoughtfully curated collection of antique and fine jewellery, with a deep love for vintage design and distinctive pieces.
We are breaking the mould for Hatton Garden jewellers, with a strong online and social media presence and a more diverse clientele. The business is growing quickly, and this internship is a chance to see how a small, ambitious retail business really runs from the inside.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Jewellery Operations & Administration Intern to join us for six months, starting as soon as possible.
This is a hands-on, behind-the-scenes role. You will help get newly purchased pieces into stock and onto the website, write the descriptions that bring them to life, raise invoices, and prepare and ship jewellery to our customers. Alongside that, you will provide general administrative support across the business.
Almost every piece we sell is one of a kind, and many are more than a century old. That makes accuracy and care essential. The records you keep and the descriptions you write are how the rest of the team, and our customers, know exactly what we have.
The role is full time and on site at our Hatton Garden office, Monday to Friday. It is a paid internship, and for the right person there is a genuine prospect of a permanent role at the end of the six months, subject to strong performance and the needs of the business.
Key ResponsibilitiesStock, listings and records
β’ Book new purchases into stock and make sure each piece is recorded correctly from the moment it arrives.
β’ Create and publish listings for newly purchased pieces on our website, writing clear, engaging descriptions that capture the period, design, materials and character of each piece.
β’ Run stock reconciliations and keep stock records accurate and up to date.
β’ Prepare and present items for appointments with retail customers.
Repairs, sourcing and suppliers
β’ Coordinate repairs, modifications, cleaning and maintenance with our workshops, craftspeople and outside suppliers, and track work through to completion.
β’ Source replacement gems where a piece needs them.
β’ Deliver and collect items from suppliers and workshops, and move pieces between our Hatton Garden office and our stall at Grays.
Invoicing, orders and shipping
β’ Raise invoices accurately, keep clean records of each sale, and follow up on payments.
β’ Ship jewellery to trade and retail customers, managing despatch end to end with the right packaging, insurance and documentation.
β’ Track inbound and outbound deliveries, and follow up where something is delayed or missing.
Administrative support
β’ Handle routine customer enquiries by email.
β’ Assist with marketing activities, including preparing items and keeping things organised as required.
β’ Provide day-to-day administrative support across the business, including record keeping, supplier admin, helping with projects as they come up, and keeping the office a smooth, well-run place to work.
Skills and Experience
This is an entry-level role and we are open to applicants from any background. No specific jewellery knowledge is required. Learning about antique and vintage jewellery will be part of the internship.
Essential
β’ A strong interest in jewellery, and a real appetite to learn about it.
β’ Highly organised, with genuine attention to detail.
β’ Clear, accurate written English, and the ability to write descriptions people actually want to read.
β’ Able and willing to pick up new systems, tools and skills quickly.
β’ Reliable and trustworthy, and comfortable taking responsibility for valuable items.
β’ Able to work full time, on site in Hatton Garden.
Desirable
β’ Any experience of administration, stock, e-commerce listings or customer service.
β’ Experience writing product copy or other short-form content.
Personal Qualities
β’ Careful and precise, and takes pride in getting the details right.
β’ Curious, and quick to learn.
β’ Dependable, and follows tasks through properly.
β’ Happy to turn a hand to whatever the day needs in a small team.
What We Offer
β’ A paid six-month internship, full time, in the heart of Hatton Garden.
β’ A genuine prospect of a permanent role at the end, subject to strong performance and the needs of the business.
β’ Close exposure to rare antique and vintage jewellery, and a real view of how a small, fast-growing business is run.
β’ Opportunity to borrow exquisite jewellery for up to 4 days of the year.
β’ A supportive, close-knit team with high standards and clear expectations.
