Our Bedford based client are currently recruiting for a H&S officer on a temporary basis to cover maternity. This will be for at least 9-12 months.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Include the following:
- Develop SWP and SOP and ensure employee understanding.
- Deliver Toolbox talks on H&S.
- Produce risk assessments for any activities on site and consider how risk could be reduced or removed.
- From time to there may be an expectance to attend meetings or work at sites.
- Managing MOC
- Work with the Group SHE Risk Manager to implement group policies and mandatory standards
- Issue and log all PPE, workwear and work accessories such as gloves, scissors, tape measures etc.
- Enforce uniform and PPE policies.
- Maintain stock of first aid equipment and issue appropriately.
- Induction of all contractors including permit to works
- Coordinate with management and Engineering to ensure all maintenance work required in factory and offices is completed in line with the budget or as required.
- Keep training records up to date and test understanding / ability periodically.
- Keep site up to date with notices, signs, bulletins and statistics
- Review and action hazard, near miss and incident reports.
- Investigating and recording workplace accidents and work-related illnesses, writing up reports where required.
- Complete a monthly SHE risk management and action plan report.
- Maintain COSHH assessments and action as necessary.
- Arrange and lead health and safety meetings.
- Ensure that items identified for repair are prioritised and actioned by site Engineer.
- Carry out regular site audits to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
- Coordinate the role out of group initiatives.
