Job Summary
Become a key contributor in our Operational Engineering team, supporting product lifecycle management and driving engineering excellence. You will work on varied projects, applying sound engineering principles to solve practical problems and deliver sustainable solutions across our global portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering Change Requests (ECR/ECO): Complete engineering change, conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with change control processes.
- Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA): Support part, product and process risk evaluation.
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Lead investigations using 8D methodology or similar.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance product quality at the product design level.
- Compliance: Maintain adherence to regulatory and internal standards.
- Quality Assurance Collaboration: Assist supply sites with Quality Control / Assurance activities, with a particular focus on PPAP.
- Factory KPI Support: Monitor data from supply sites such as scrap, returns, and other key performance indicators.
- Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE): Support cost‑down initiatives and supplier optimisation.
- Inspect batches of mechanical or electrical samples against drawings for project sign‑off.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross‑functional teams (Quality, Supply Chain, Production) to ensure smooth operations.
- Documentation: Prepare technical reports and maintain accurate records in PLM & ERP systems.
Skills/Experience
This is what you’ll need to be successful in this role:
- Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline.
- Experience in an engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to apply engineering principles practically.
- Familiarity with CAD tools and engineering documentation standards.
- Experience with PPAP, FMEA, RCA, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Desirable Experience Includes
- Knowledge of Plastic injection moulding, aluminium casting, machining processes, metrology, mouldflow Mechanical test methods, compliance and validation.
- Interpreting engineering datasheets and writing reports.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
- Project management awareness.
- Exposure to VAVE and supplier cost‑down initiatives.
- Experience with common metrology techniques such as CMM & vision systems or similar metrology tools.
- Knowledge of compliance and validation processes.
- Knowledge of regulatory and quality standards e.g. Machinery Directive, Machinery Regulation, RoHS, REACH, POPS etc.
