As Head of Governance & Controls, you will lead the development, implementation, and ongoing management of the Watson-Marlow governance framework, ensuring it is coherent and compliant in all respects. You will provide leadership for effective G3 implementation, monitoring, and reporting, and act as the technical subject matter expert and point of contact for governance and controls across Watson-Marlow. This role is pivotal in supporting risk management, regulatory compliance, and driving process improvement and automation initiatives. Working collaboratively across the Watson-Marlow Global finance team and the wider business, this role will build strong relationships, share insights, and ensure financial Governance is aligned with organisational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the WMFTS governance framework is coherent and compliant in all respects
  • Lead effective G3 implementation, monitoring, and reporting
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with Internal Audit requirements
  • Present, communicate, and report compliance across WMFTS as required
  • Act as the governance & controls support, point of contact, and technical subject matter expert
  • Deliver training and guidance on governance and controls
  • Support risk management and ensure WMFTS is compliant with regulatory and statutory obligations
  • Lead controls review and testing programmes
  • Conduct risk and control reviews to identify process improvement and automation opportunities
  • Coordinate and lead financial process improvement initiatives to address common weaknesses
  • Drive process improvements to streamline and improve efficiency
  • Review and develop relevant policies
  • Share best practice across the organisation

Skills/Experience

  • Strong understanding of governance frameworks, risk management, and internal controls
  • Experience in implementing and monitoring compliance programmes
  • Excellent communication skills, able to present complex information clearly to a range of stakeholders
  • Proven ability to lead process improvement and automation initiatives
  • Experience in policy development and sharing best practice
  • Ability to deliver training and guidance effectively
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Experience working collaboratively across teams and in dynamic, fast-paced environments
  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g., CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent)
  • Proactive, solution-oriented approach with resilience and adaptability
