We are seeking a talented and motivated Production Operative (Plastic Extrusion) to join our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with the Company Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability Policies, reporting any potentially dangerous issues/faults to your direct Team Leader or Production Manager and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
  • Producing quality products in the required quantity, on time, and at the lowest possible cost, in accordance with the Company’s Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrating a positive attitude to training and personal development.
  • Monitoring the performance of the process to ensure maximum output at all times.
  • Carrying out and documenting the correct quality control checks for each job performed and completing all production paperwork.
  • Working as a team to achieve departmental targets, company targets and customer deadlines.
  • Degreasing hoses.
  • Testing hoses.
  • Reeling up hoses.
  • Operating a plastic extruder.
  • Adhering to correct procedures.
  • Ensuring all documentation is completed at the correct time.
  • Adhering to safe working practices at all times.
  • Performing the necessary safety checks to maintain department integrity and effectiveness, and operating in accordance with training provided.
  • Ensuring adherence to 5S within the department.
  • Transferring to other areas of the department or business as requested.
  • Keeping the department’s machines in good working condition and reporting any major maintenance issues immediately.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and related regulations.
  • Wearing all required PPE at all times where applicable.
  • Extruding PVC, polyurethane and other materials.
  • Performing mainly manual handling, some of which is heavy.

Skills / Experience

  • Highly motivated and able to work as part of a team; flexibility required to cover sickness, holidays, overtime etc.
  • Possess a positive working attitude.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Quality oriented.
  • Good level of numeracy and general education.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and communicate with other workers.
  • Ability and willingness to perform manual work.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to company values.
  • Previous experience in mechanical engineering, extrusion, injection moulding, and an understanding of pressure and flow is an advantage.
