About the Role:

The Field Calibration Engineer is responsible for conducting calibrations and thermal surveys of measurement and instrumentation systems at customer sites, specifically for equipment used in heat treatment. The role ensures instrumentation operates within required specifications and remains compliant with rigorous industry standards, internal procedures, and specific customer requirements. Compliance with internationally recognized accreditation standards, such as ISO/IEC 17025 and Nadcap, is central to this position. This role involves regular travel (4 to 5 days per week) to customer sites and may include overnight stays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform field calibration and validation of thermal processing equipment, including temperature sensors, instruments, and controllers, in line with ISO/IEC 17025 and AMS 2750 pyrometry requirements.
  • Carry out temperature uniformity surveys (TUS), system accuracy tests (SAT), and other thermal mapping procedures required by our customers.
  • Support customers with troubleshooting calibration and thermal survey failures and suggest solutions to persistent instrumentation issues.
  • Attend customer appointments, including travel and occasional overnight stays, adapting to variable work environments.
  • Promote professional customer service and communicate findings clearly to clients and colleagues.
  • Participate in ongoing training, remaining current with advances in calibration, pyrometry, and heat treatment technology.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional customer experience while upholding stringent standards for accuracy, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025, Nadcap, AMS 2750, and regulatory requirements for calibration and thermal surveys in manufacturing environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurement, documentation, and record-keeping.
  • Problem-solving skills for troubleshooting calibration issues and thermal mapping discrepancies.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for reporting results and advising customers.
  • Excellent organization and time management; capacity to self-manage in varied and demanding environments.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and high standards of safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Training will be provided, although hands-on experience in calibration and thermal survey work, ideally on heat treatment equipment or industrial measurement systems, would be preferred.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence required
