Watkin Jones is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a supportive environment while developing a career in Quantity Surveying.

We are also offering a degree apprenticeship role to unqualified applicants, providing the opportunity to study towards a degree alongside work, with attendance at university one day per week until graduation.

As a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of construction projects, gaining hands-on experience across a wide range of quantity surveying and commercial activities.

Initially, you will be part of the team delivering our exciting new development in Oxford, a 145-unit Wilde-branded lifestyle aparthotel.

Working closely with experienced commercial professionals, you will assist with measurements, tender enquiries, tender analyses, procurement, subcontractor payments, cost management, commercial reporting, and other key project activities, while also providing general administrative support to the commercial function.

As your skills, knowledge, and experience develop, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of schemes across the business, broadening your exposure and supporting your progression within the Quantity Surveying profession.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this role will allow you to gain hands-on relevant experience to learn more about the projects and develop your commercial skills.

About You

Ideally, you'll have some academic or vocational experience of the construction industry and have a passion for a career within Quantity Surveying.

You'll need to be able to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills, a strong attention to detail and excellent numeracy skills.

The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines is essential for this role.

A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point is also a must.

You'll be an ambitious individual with long-term goals to help take the organisation to the next phase of its evolution and be open to additional development to further your commercial knowledge.
