We are a growing engineering and fabrication company specialising in the design and manufacture of bespoke products, fittings, and installation equipment for the water industry. Our projects include platforms, access structures, lifting equipment, pipe supports, fabricated fittings, and bespoke installation equipment for the UK water industry and international clients worldwide. Our work involves the fabrication of custom-engineered products and equipment using structural steels including S275 and S355. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality workmanship and practical engineering solutions to our customers.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Fabricator / Welder to join our workshop team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating and welding bespoke products and assemblies from engineering drawings, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard of quality, accuracy, and safety.
Key Responsibilities- Fabricate and weld bespoke steel products, fittings, and installation equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication details.
- Measure, mark out, cut, prepare, and assemble materials accurately.
- Carry out MIG welding on S275 and S355 steel components.
- Operate bending rolls and fabricate rolled sections to specified dimensions.
- Operate fabrication machinery and workshop equipment safely and efficiently.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets required quality standards.
- Work effectively to production schedules whilst maintaining high standards of workmanship.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Time-served Fabricator / Welder with a minimum of 5 years' experience in heavy fabrication and MIG welding.
- Demonstrable experience working as a Fabricator / Welder in a heavy fabrication environment.
- Strong MIG welding and fabrication skills.
- Experience working with structural steels such as S275 and S355.
- Experience fabricating S275 and S355 steel plate and sections ranging from 6 mm to 30 mm thickness.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Able to work from engineering drawings and fabricate assemblies with minimal supervision.
- Confident operating bending rolls and producing rolled sections to specified dimensions and tolerances.
- Able to fabricate and assemble components accurately whilst maintaining dimensional tolerances and high-quality workmanship.
- Good understanding of fabrication processes and workshop practices.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
- Experience fabricating structural steelwork, platforms, frames, brackets, and industrial equipment.
- Experience fabricating platforms, brackets, lifting equipment, pipe supports, frames, access structures, and bespoke products for the water industry.
- Experience within the utilities, water, construction, or engineering sectors.
- Experience using forklift trucks and lifting equipment.
- Overhead crane experience.
- Competitive hourly rate of £17.00–£22.00 per hour, dependent on experience.
