Wath Group is looking for an experienced and motivated CNC Machinist / Programmer to join our expanding precision engineering division in Rotherham. You will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating Haas CNC milling machines and lathes, supporting both prototype and production machining for our engineered valve and pipeline product range. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a modern, well-equipped CNC facility, using the latest Fusion 360 CAM software and Haas multi-axis equipment, including the introduction of a Hankook VTC-140E Vertical Turning Lathe and Haas EC-1600ZT Horizontal Machining Centre.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set, and operate Haas CNC machines (VF-4SS, UMC-1000SS/1250SS, EC-400PP, DS-30Y, ST-40).
- Create and optimise CNC programs using Autodesk Fusion 360 CAM and Haas control systems.
- Interpret 2D and 3D engineering drawings with GD&T tolerances.
- Select and install cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding for efficient setups.
- Conduct first-off and in-process inspections using micrometers, verniers, and CMM equipment.
- Adjust feeds, speeds, and offsets to maintain tight tolerances and surface finishes.
- Collaborate with design and production teams to improve machining methods and efficiency.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safety-compliant work area.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience programming and setting Haas CNC lathes and mills (multi-axis advantageous).
- Proficiency with Autodesk Fusion 360 CAM software.
- Strong knowledge of Haas/Fanuc G- and M-code programming.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and CAD models.
- Skilled in machining stainless steel, duplex, aluminium, and engineering plastics.
- Confident in using precision measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, gauges, CMM).
- Excellent attention to detail and a proactive, safety-first approach.
Desirable
- Experience with 5-axis machining and custom fixture design.
- Understanding of ISO 9001 / BS EN quality management systems.
- Background in valve, pipeline, or pressure-equipment manufacturing.
- Forklift or overhead-crane certification.
Working Hours
- Monday Thursday: 07:00 16:00
- Friday: 07:00 12:00
- Overtime available at enhanced rates.
