Role

The Project Director is a practice leader expert with a proven track record of success in client management and a team leader in their area of expertise. The Project Director conceptualizes, develops, and implements innovative project delivery solutions that effectively drive the project and client relationship. This individual is judicious at developing and driving overall strategies to address client goals, consistently resulting in high‑quality and exceptional results. With extensive experience in all phases of projects and management and a global and local focus, the Project Director collaborates with other Senior Leaders to strengthen delivery, focusing on quality, innovation, technology, project management, and market expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic leadership and technical, operational, financial, and managerial direction for successfully implementing project activities and objectives.
  • Responsible for the overall management of the project, including liaising with the client, coordinating and leading internal and external stakeholders and supervising the project team, and overseeing project execution, financial performance, administrative oversight, reporting, monitoring and evaluation of the project.
  • Provides oversight of all activities, outputs, and outcomes related to project management and administration.
  • Provides leadership to strategically manage risk, monitor finances, and enable each phase of work to be started and completed on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
  • Oversees and manages the development of multiple projects from concept through completion while able to effectively navigate complex issues and resolve them productively.
  • Integrates service lines in the management and execution of the project.
  • Oversees project management solutions and results, providing leadership and direction to project teams to implement strategic decisions and problem‑solve unforeseen setbacks.
  • Works with the Managing Principal and the Studio Director to prepare for client presentations.
  • Establishes and leads initiatives that improve QA/QC efforts, with a commitment to achieve quality project management and meet internal business practices and established standards and specifications.
  • Promotes learning and development opportunities to raise the team’s capabilities and quality of delivery.
  • Monitors delivery and programs that meet the business objectives.
  • Works with the Managing Principal, Studio Director, and internal teams to generate ideas for pitches and proposals.
  • Fosters team building and mentors and motivates project team members.
  • Works with other Senior Leaders on solutions to office‑wide issues and participates in key initiatives that foster the success of the Studio and the office.

Qualifications

  • Professional degree from an accredited institution.
  • Professional license required.
  • Environmental accreditation preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in managing the delivery process of several small to large‑scale projects with increasing levels of complexity.
  • Strong project management and client leadership skills and the ability to negotiate complex issues.
  • Substantial experience in interaction with clients regarding project scopes and budgets.
  • Proven abilities in interfacing with clients, consultants, vendors, and the project team across service lines.
  • Able to coordinate, delegate, mentor, motivate, and give constructive feedback to the project team.
  • Effectively implements complex concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Manages multiple project priorities simultaneously and meets deadlines consistently.
  • Highly effective communication skills in verbal presentation and written narrative.
