We are looking for a Systems Officer to join our friendly and dynamic team here at the Waterstones Book Hub in Burton On Trent. As a Systems Officer, you'll play a key role in maintaining the smooth flow of stock from suppliers through the hub and into our book shops while providing hands-on support across both operational processes and system functionality. This is a busy and varied role where we will provide full training, we are looking for someone with enthusiasm and the desire to learn.

You will be supporting the team with a variety of tasks that include:

  • Testing system fixes or configuration changes
  • Resolving operational issues
  • Ensuring seamless system performance

This role is for a 6-month fixed term contract, with the potential for this to transition into a permanent position. Please note we work on a shift pattern which includes:

  • Monday to Friday 06:00-14:00
  • 10:00-18:00
  • 14:30-22:30

This is on a three-week rota and then every fourth week you would work Sunday to Thursday.

What you will be doing:

  • Supporting receipt processes and resolving system-related issues
  • Planning and managing workloads to ensure timely dispatch
  • Troubleshooting stock discrepancies and equipment faults
  • Ensuring accurate and timely store deliveries
  • Conducting software testing, writing test cases, and analysing data
  • WMS account maintenance
  • Hardware and Software Support
  • Incident Management
  • Being the point of escalation for the site, raising sales force tickets with third party system support and cascading information to the wider team

What we need from you:

  • Technical and business understanding of a Warehouse Management System, ideally Blue Yonder
  • Enthusiasm and the desire to learn and understand processes and procedures
  • Experience with the analysis and reporting of service and incident data
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office Products
  • Ability to effectively communicate service issues to non-specialists in an engaging and persuasive manner
