We are looking for a Midweight Digital Designer to join our friendly and dynamic team here at Waterstones Head Office in Piccadilly, London. This is a part time role (3 days each week) and you will be working within a collaborative team on varied, fast-paced creative design projects for Waterstones digital platforms.
What you will be doing:
- Create high-quality digital assets for use across Waterstones digital platforms – including website, email, app and social platforms.
- Work closely with the design team and wider Ecommerce team to deliver projects from brief to completion that meet project objectives.
- Create artwork using art direction skills, ecommerce strategic thinking and high-quality ideas with a focus on user-friendly mobile-first and accessible designs.
- Work within a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and communicating progress accurately to the Digital Design Manager and wider team to ensure work is delivered within specified timeframes.
- Produce product photography for key campaigns and to enhance merchandising, including post‑production and photo editing of selected photography.
- Support the Ecommerce department with reactive changes and requests to meet commercial needs.
- Use your strong understanding of e‑commerce and digital design to generate ideas that enhance the customer experience and optimise the user journey, supporting the ongoing growth and development of Waterstones.com.
- Uphold a balance of creativity and brand consistency throughout artwork.
What we need from you:
- 4 years digitally focused design experience.
- Keen eye for detail and ability to combine commerciality and creativity in the work produced for digital campaigns and experiences.
- Strong understanding of mobile‑first and responsive design.
- Designing content for App visuals is advantageous.
- Experience working in a team, working to brief specifics, delivering multiple projects simultaneously in an accurate and timely fashion.
- Excellent communicator, versed in brainstorming and presenting idea routes.
- Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience using Keynote or After Effects (or similar software for animation) is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Trello, Slack and Teams is desired but not essential.
- Experience in and/or a keen interest in product and creative photography and editing advantageous.
