We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician / Electrician to join our friendly and dynamic team here at Waterstones in Glasgow. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, modifying and repairing all electrical systems in Waterstones stores and cafes across the Glasgow / Central Scotland area. This is a varied role which will require you to also support with basic plumbing, joinery and painting and decorating duties across your area.
Please note: You will need a full UK driving licence for this role. A van is supplied for your use. This is a Monday to Friday role with no weekend working or call out.
What you will be doing:
- Installing, maintaining, modifying and repairing all electrical systems in Waterstones stores and cafes.
- Ensuring that electrical systems adhere to the national electrical safety standards and regulations.
- Supervising ongoing electrical system installations and providing technical expertise to installation teams when needed.
- Identifying electrical problems and repairing them via store audit process.
- Advising the company management when to replace electrical and fire safety equipment to prevent hazards.
- Conducting general electrical systems maintenance and troubleshooting electrical issues with testing equipment.
- Using wiring diagrams and scope of works to complete minor project refurbishment works.
- Carrying out annual store energy and store condition report audits.
- Carrying out statutory compliance tasks such as fire alarm testing, emergency light testing and portable appliance testing.
- Completing any required remedial works and issuing certification.
- Able to undertake other maintenance duties outside your core trade when required, including basic joinery, plumbing and decorating.
- Ability to manage own workload and prioritise tasks assigned from help desk, CAFM system.
What we need from you:
- Time served electrician preferably from a FM background.
- Hold BS7671 18th Edition qualification.
- UK driving licence.
- Fire alarm system servicing and maintenance qualification (desirable).
- PASMA tower scaffold card (desirable).
- IPAF card (desirable).
- Asbestos awareness (desirable).
