Permanent position based in Piccadilly, London (hybrid 3 days in the office / 2 days at home). We are looking for a Technical Project Manager to join our friendly and dynamic team here at Waterstones in London. You will be helping to lead the continuous delivery of projects on our ecommerce platforms, related digital applications, and services - with a focus on Agile delivery. You will also be supporting cross-functional teams spanning commercial, design, operations and engineering to ensure delivery of transformational projects.
This is a role where you will be instrumental in delivering business critical projects and will guide the team through sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, promoting continuous improvement and a shared understanding of goals. You will also review progress and use influencing skills to unblock issues.
What you will be doing:
- Champion agile delivery methodology and help build understanding and capability across all teams.
- Facilitate cross-functional groups to plan and deliver projects and initiatives.
- Bring energy and invention to team meetings such as planning, stand ups, retrospectives and showcases.
- Own project delivery plans and be the main point of contact between commercial and technical teams.
- Maintain delivery momentum - drive team and set the pace, ensuring teams are working towards delivery commitments.
- Coordinate multiple workstreams to ensure there is a clear pipeline of work to be delivered next.
- Identify and mitigate risk and blockers to successful delivery.
- Manage, monitor and measure workflows to ensure value is delivered early and often.
- Work and liaise with third parties.
- Track and report regularly on project progress to senior team.
- Ability to prioritise time-critical work and deliver to tight deadlines.
What we need from you:
- Experience of championing technical project delivery within a retail, ecommerce or consumer facing business.
- Knowledge of Scrum, Kanban and lean methodologies coupled with a deep understanding of the principles of agile and the processes behind effective product delivery.
- Effective relationship builder with strong stakeholder management skills.
- Strong project management experience, coordinating multiple projects/streams simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact with technical and non-technical audiences including customers, managers, and subject matter experts.
