Based in Piccadilly, London / Hybrid (3 days in Piccadilly office / 2 days at home)
We have an exciting opportunity for an Agile Delivery Manager to join our friendly and dynamic team here at Waterstones in London. You will be supporting the continuous delivery of eCommerce products, services and projects to add value to the Waterstones proposition.
This is a role where you will enjoy being hands-on and solution oriented, with an inquisitive mind and have the desire to deliver – you will want to get things done. You will be supporting cross-functional teams of commercial, design, operations and engineering to ensure high-value outputs are consistently being delivered by the Digital teams.
You will be supporting the eCommerce development team and stakeholders with all work requests with the full life cycle from inception to production. Proactively identify and remove impediments to delivery, enabling development teams to maintain momentum and meet commitments.
You will be a strong advocate for agile practices but remain pragmatic with regards to overall delivery and ensure that you keep stakeholders informed with clear, regular updates on progress, risks, and delivery timelines.
What you will be doing
- Champion and facilitate agile delivery and help build understanding and capability across all teams – working closely with product owners, designers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure the consistent delivery of high-value projects.
- Able to communicate clearly and confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders — particularly product teams — translating delivery progress, technical dependencies, and blockers into clear, actionable updates.
- Represents the interests of ecommerce delivery, advocating for its priorities and ensuring digital considerations are factored into wider business planning and decision-making.
- Effective at building collaborative relationships across disciplines, aligning delivery teams with product goals and business outcomes.
- Experienced in managing concurrent workstreams or projects while maintaining delivery cadence and focus.
- Bring energy and invention to team meetings such as planning, stand ups, retrospectives and showcases.
- Own project delivery plans and being the main point of contact between commercial and technical teams.
- Maintain delivery momentum – drive team and set the pace, ensuring teams are working towards delivery commitments.
- Coordinate multiple workstreams to ensure there is a clear pipeline of work to be delivered next.
- Identify and mitigate risk and blockers to successful delivery.
- Manage, monitor and measure workflows to ensure value is delivered early and often.
- Work and liaise with third parties.
- Track and report regularly on project progress to senior team.
- Ability to prioritising time-critical work and deliver to tight deadlines.
What we need from you
- Experience of championing agile delivery practice within an organisation.
- Able to apply Agile principles with empathy and flexibility, tailoring delivery methods to team strengths, stakeholder expectations, and changing priorities.
- Considered a Jira expert , able to configure workflows, boards, and dashboards to support transparency, reporting, and continuous delivery across teams and stakeholders.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills across business and technical teams.
- Strong project management experience, coordinating multiple projects/streams simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact with technical and non-technical audiences including customers, managers, and subject matter experts.
- Calm and composed under pressure, creating a supportive environment for others to manage workload and challenges.
- Builds trusted relationships with QA specialists, supporting early test planning, continuous integration, and quality-focused delivery throughout the sprint cycle.
- Familiarity with PHP or modern web technologies is a plus, enabling stronger collaboration with development teams.
- Understanding of automated testing and CI/CD pipelines to support high-quality, iterative delivery.
