This mechanical fitting apprenticeship will cover many manufacturing techniques where you will be operating a range of hand tools and machines to fully assemble and test our finished products. At Joloda Hydraroll, we manufacture a variety of loading and unloading solutions, and our assembly departments are where these products come to life. It involves assembling manual skates, roller beds, hydraulic pumps, pneumatic controls and countless more.
Day-to-day, this looks like:
- Following works orders and technical drawings to assemble finished products
- Learning how to resolve problems and ensure full product function on an assembly line
- Operating hand tools and assembly machines to complete complex operations
- Training in how to check the quality of your work and your colleagues' work with various hand measurement equipment such as vernier callipers or gauges
- Interpreting technical drawings to compare with inspected parts
- Learning core mechanical assembly principles across a variety of applications
- Working with the team to improve and be more productive every day
These day-to-day responsibilities will help increase your knowledge of complex mechanical assembly and fitting work. As we regularly manufacture new, previously unseen products, you will have the opportunity to apply this knowledge in varied ways. These skills will help you develop through your apprenticeship and set you up for a career in manufacturing.

- You must be able to travel to Waterside Training (St Helens) and Joloda Hydraroll (Speke) to carry out your training and complete your qualifications.

Future Prospects
Joloda Hydraroll has a long history of apprenticeships. We always aim to offer a full-time position at the end of an apprenticeship in the specialist area. Beyond this, we will continue to invest in further education for those who show desire and promise in this area. We have 3 former apprentices now studying HNDs to increase their knowledge. Professionally, we are proud that several former apprentices have progressed through their skilled area, into being team leaders and eventually to foreman. We are passionate about developing our own talent and will aim to push them forward at every opportunity.
