Waters Wilmslow is looking for an experienced Instrument Control Software Engineer to join our team, as part of the multi‑year strategic initiative shaping the future of our Mass Spectrometry and workflow solutions. The team works across Mass Spectrometry, Chromatography and Informatics, partnering directly with customers and industry leaders to drive innovation in markets and powering breakthroughs in precision medicine and advanced therapeutics.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance instrument‑control software for MS systems
  • Design, test, review and document high‑quality code
  • Collaborate across teams to solve technical challenges
  • Act as a technical expert, promoting best practices globally
  • Mentor others and contribute to architectural decisions
  • Support and improve our Quality Management System

Qualifications

  • Proven industry experience in hardware control software, embedded systems, real‑time h/w control, plus:
  • Strong C++/C#, Angular, TypeScript and Linux development experience
  • Background in embedded or acquisition‑system software
  • Solid engineering practices (Unit Testing, TDD, CI/CD, SOLID, BDD)
  • Strong problem‑solving and communication skills

Nice to have (training provided):

  • Agile, Docker/Gradle pipelines, BDD, Atlassian tools, software security, regulated‑environment experience.
