The Principal UX Designer will lead UX Designers in order to make strategic and tactical UX decisions related to design and usability as well as features and functions. The best candidate will possess outstanding creativity, a highly detailed nature, and the ability to quickly learn complex concepts in order to define and solve challenging user interface problems. They will be a dynamic design leader.

Responsibilities:

  • Devise interaction strategies for cross-platform digital experiences in sync with user goals and clients’ business goals.
  • Develop high-level navigation and structure, lead the design of wireframes or interactive prototypes, and content organization.
  • Design journeys and experiences; effectively communicate such to all levels of stakeholders and designers.
  • Facilitate internal team communication, drive coordination of design teams, and be a first-level escalation point for issues within teams.
  • Present design solutions to senior stakeholders and/or customer representatives.
  • Collaborate with other designers in multiple offices: help mentor juniors and support principles.
  • Tirelessly advocate for the needs and goals of real users, as well as evangelising (by word and action) the importance of UX as a core practice.
  • Contribute to the definition of the overall goals of the UX team and Design System.
  • Influence, share and collaborate early in the product strategy process, communicate design requirements during the feature definition process.
  • Look for simpler, but better solutions to design problems.
  • Proactively find opportunities to broaden UX reach within the company.
  • Review concept designs across products for consistency/conflicts in patterns across hardware and software products.

Qualifications:

  • 10-15 Years of UX Design experience in a software or web development environment crafting web-based or SaaS applications.
  • Expert understanding of the interactive Development Process - deep knowledge of experience planning, documenting, and leading interactive projects.
  • Immersed in UX best practices, able to define procedural changes and drive toward the greatest efficiency.
  • A Designer’s Eye – Must be able to translate complex concepts and interactions into visually coherent wireframes or prototypes.
  • Projects a strong collaborative and consultative presence to conduct effective questioning and information-gathering engagements.
  • Proven ability to innovate and design outstanding user experiences; must have a portfolio ready to share and present.
  • Experience interviewing users and conducting guerrilla usability testing.
  • Experience working with and defining a Design System.
  • Experience working within Agile teams – Jira knowledge required.
  • A background in quantitative graphical displays or scientific application design is a plus.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in HCI or Graphic Design and/or relevant field of study or equivalent experience.
