Waterman Group is a leading engineering and environmental consultancy, delivering innovative and sustainable solutions across the built environment. Our Birmingham office is growing, and we are looking for a skilled Revit Technician to join our Structures team.

The Role

As a Structural Technician, you will be responsible for producing high-quality structural drawings and models to support the design and delivery of projects across a variety of sectors, including commercial, retail, industrial, residential, education, healthcare, defence and mixed use developments. You will work closely with engineers and other technicians to ensure accurate and efficient delivery of design information.

Objectives of this Role

  • Undertake accurate REVIT modelling of a wide variety of existing and new buildings across a broad range of sectors.
  • Developing efficient workflows between the BIM and analytical software used with the engineers.
  • Prepare modelling documentation and drawings associated with RIBA stage reports, planning applications, and necessary approvals.
  • Provide specialist support to in-house structural and civil engineering colleagues.

Routine Responsibilities

  • Undertake high level modelling studies to develop structural engineering options with the engineering team and provide early advice with regards co-ordination with other disciplines.
  • Prepare suitable renders to aid with conveying concepts and RIBA Stage reports.
  • Create a reliable and co-ordinated BIM model in accordance with the company BIM policy.
  • Provide ongoing advice to structural and civil engineering colleagues/clients/wider design team, in relation to the developing designs and details.
  • Produce material quantities and volumes to RIBA Stage reports and Costing Notes.
  • Support and develop new methods of working and modelling with regards parametric modelling, in house BIM standards, and digital standards.
  • Actively engage in our in-house development forums, for subjects such as environmental sustainability and BIM strategies.
  • Reinforced concrete detailing and scheduling.
  • Manage relevant project documentation including, but not limited to, document control systems, model compliance, internal reviews.
