We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Engineer with a passion for civil structures to join our Infrastructure & Environment team at Waterman Group. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Civil Engineering graduate to begin their career working on the design and delivery of bridge and structural engineering solutions across rail and wider infrastructure projects. You will gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment, working alongside experienced engineers while developing your technical and professional skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and analysis of bridges and civil structures for rail and infrastructure projects
- Support the delivery of engineering solutions in line with client requirements and project objectives
- Prepare calculations, drawings and technical reports under supervision
- Work in accordance with relevant standards, codes, and procedures (e.g. Eurocodes, Network Rail standards)
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Attend site visits and assist with inspections where required
- Contribute to innovative and sustainable engineering solutions
About You
- Degree in Civil Engineering (BEng or MEng)
- Strong interest in civil structures, particularly bridges and infrastructure
- Understanding of structural behaviour and engineering principles
- Awareness of relevant design standards and codes (desirable)
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
Development & Progression
You will be supported through a structured training and development programme, working towards Chartered Engineer status (ICE or IStructE). You will gain exposure to a wide range of projects and develop the technical, commercial, and professional skills required for a successful engineering career.
