We are looking for a Graduate Structural Engineer to join our growing team in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the start of their career to gain hands‑on experience, work alongside experienced engineers and develop their technical skills across a varied portfolio of building projects.

The Role

As a Graduate Structural Engineer, you will support the delivery of structural engineering projects from concept through to detailed design and construction. Working closely with experienced engineers, you will gain exposure to a variety of building types, materials and construction methods, developing your understanding of structural design and how buildings are brought to life.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the structural design and analysis of building structures across a range of sectors.
  • Undertaking structural calculations for elements in steel, concrete, masonry and timber.
  • Supporting the preparation of structural drawings, reports, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Using design software and analysis tools to support engineering calculations and modelling.
  • Working alongside senior engineers to develop practical and efficient design solutions.
  • Liaising with architects, contractors and other engineering disciplines as part of a wider project team.
  • Attending site visits and supporting engineers during the construction phase.
  • Developing an understanding of relevant British Standards, Eurocodes and industry guidance.
  • Working towards professional chartership with support and guidance from experienced colleagues.

About You

We’re looking for a motivated graduate with a genuine interest in building structures and a desire to develop their career within a consultancy environment.

You will ideally have:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • A strong academic understanding of structural engineering principles.
  • An interest in the design of building structures and working with different construction materials.
  • Good analytical and problem‑solving skills, with an eye for detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team while developing the confidence to take ownership of tasks.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.

A relevant Master's degree and any previous placement, internship or work experience within a structural engineering consultancy would be advantageous but are not essential.
