Demonstratable skills and experience in the design of Traffic and/or Road Safety engineering schemes:

  • Develop concept and feasibility designs for highways and transport projects using relative specifications, design guidance, design briefs and available site information
  • Knowledge of Traffic Regulation Order process
  • Knowledge of Road Safety audits
  • Undertake duties of designer under CDM regs 2015 including developing and collating pre-construction information
  • Ability to produce bills of quantities from design drawings
  • Other areas of expertise may include any of the following: Traffic Management, Traffic Calming, Active Travel, Signing and Lining, Highway Maintenance
  • Competency in the use of TSRGD, Traffic Signs Manual, Road Traffic Regulation Act, Manual for Streets and other local authority standards
  • Relevant experience in design software such as CAD/KeySign & KeyLine where appropriate
  • Experience in engaging with stakeholders
  • Full UK driving license
  • Undertaking site visits and commissioning relevant site investigation works
  • BEng or equivalent degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or other recognised qualification in Civil Engineering and substantial post qualification experience
  • Ability to attend an office or site 2-3 days per week
  • Hold an appropriate professional qualification
