Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out General Inspections and Principal Inspections of Highway Structures in accordance with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges.
  • Recording and reporting on all inspections including the use of Structures Management System in accordance with the CSS Bridge Condition Index system.
  • Interpretation of bridge structure defects in construction materials such as steel and concrete.
  • Understanding the importance of efficient reporting of urgent and severe defects that have the potential to reduce capacity and performance.
  • Recording defects on site and reporting via online structural management systems.
  • Liaison between departments, arrange traffic management, access equipment and compile task briefing sheets.

Requirements:

  • Experience in Civil Engineering with particular relevance to inspection and maintenance of highway structures assets.
  • Sound technical understanding of construction materials and forms.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety and CDM 2015.
  • Experienced in the management and maintenance of local road or trunk road network.
  • Demonstrable experience in a relevant discipline preferably involving work of a structural or building nature is desirable.
  • Full valid UK driving licence.
