Waterhouse-Kern Associates is pleased to be working with a challenger bank in Central London to find a Treasury Dealer for their Treasury team.
Job role
The Treasury Dealer (FX & Markets) is responsible for the execution, optimisation and daily management of the Bank’s treasury activities, including liquidity, funding, cash, FX and collateral management, interest rate risk positioning, and market execution.
The role supports the build-out of a modern, well-controlled Treasury Markets function, ensuring the Bank’s liquidity, balance sheet risks, and funding requirements are managed efficiently and within risk appetite. The role focuses on delivering best execution in IRS, FX, managing transactional and structural FX risk, optimising cross-currency, and supporting the Bank’s broader markets, ALM and structured funding and investment initiatives.
The Dealer will monitor market conditions, execute approved trades, manage short-term funding needs, and support balance sheet optimisation, including activities related to securitisation, warehouse financing, repo, and capital markets transactions. The role also contributes to the production and enhancement of Treasury MI and supports compliance with regulatory requirements including PRA, BoE and internal risk frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Execute approved treasury transactions including money market deposits, term funding, repo, FX, interest rate swaps, and hedging instruments within delegated limits.
- Manage the Bank’s cash, collateral and liquidity buffers on a daily basis to ensure compliance with regulatory ratios (LCR, NSFR) and internal liquidity appetite.
- Support execution readiness for structured funding such as warehouse draws, note issuances, and BoE facilities.
- Manage daily cash positions, intraday liquidity and settlement flows across all currencies.
- Maintain strong understanding of market data, yield curves, FX forwards, basis spreads and pricing conventions.
- Support IRRBB modelling and hedge effectiveness analysis.
- Assist with monitoring interest rate exposures and support hedging activity when required.
- Assist with the production and development of the ICAAP, ILAAP, Recovery Plan and risk appetite reviews.
- Assist with the development of stress testing and cashflow modelling.
- Support the completion of treasury related regulatory reporting returns.
- Assist with implementation of any new Treasury systems.
- Engage with Treasury Operations and the wider Finance and Treasury team to help improve Treasury processes, automating where possible.
- Collaborate with the wider Bank stakeholders to assist with the overall management of the Bank’s balance sheet across Savings, Lending & Operations.
Key Skills
- Min 2 years’ experience in a banking treasury environment.
- Experience in FX markets, treasury dealing, or financial markets execution (spot, forwards, swaps, cross-currency funding).
- Strong understanding of macroeconomic drivers, interest rate differentials, basis spreads, central bank policy and their impact on FX pricing.
- Familiarity with liquidity management, cash and collateral management, and short-term money markets.
- Knowledge of derivative products, ISDA/CSA frameworks, and margining processes (desirable).
- Experience working with market data systems (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv) and treasury/position management tools.
- Strong numerical and analytical capability, with the ability to interpret pricing, exposures, P&L and hedge performance.
- Ability to analyse large datasets and identify trends in FX, liquidity and market risk metrics.
- Understanding of valuation techniques, forward point calculation, yield curves and FX swap points.
- Ability to support IRRBB, liquidity stress testing and scenario analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to execute trades accurately, efficiently and within delegated limits.
- High attention to detail with strong front-office control discipline (e.g., deal booking accuracy, limit monitoring, conduct standards).
- Understanding of PRA/BoE expectations around market risk, liquidity risk and treasury governance.
- Exposure to multi-currency balance sheets, warehouse financing, capital markets issuance or structured funding (advantageous).
- Experience supporting BoE Sterling Monetary Framework (SMF), repo or collateral eligibility processes.
- Prior involvement in hedging programmes or ALM execution.
