About Us
At Wardle Academy, we pride ourselves on delivering a vibrant, creative, and practical curriculum that inspires our students. Our Art, Textiles, Food, Engineering and Photography Departments are buzzing hubs of innovation. To keep these busy departments running smoothly and safely, we are seeking adaptable and proactive individuals to join our technical support team. Whether you are looking for a full-time career or a flexible part-time role to fit around other commitments, we want to hear from you!
The Role
This is a wonderfully varied role where no two days are the same. You will provide vital support across our creative and practical subjects, ensuring that classrooms are prepared, equipment is maintained, and students can learn safely. While you may have a natural strength in one specific area (like cooking or woodwork), flexibility is key. We are looking for team players willing to cross-cover and support all creative disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation: Prepare ingredients, tools, materials, and equipment for practical lessons in Art, Textiles, Food, Engineering and Photography.
- Health & Safety: Maintain clean, safe, and organized workshop and kitchen environments in line with COSHH guidelines.
- Maintenance: Carry out routine checks, cleaning, and basic maintenance of machinery (e.g., sewing machines, laser cutters, pillar drills, ovens).
- Stock Control: Monitor stock levels of materials and ingredients, ordering replacements to ensure lessons are always fully equipped.
What We Are Looking For
You don’t need to be an expert in every single subject area to apply—we provide excellent on-the-job training! However, the ideal candidate will have:
- Adaptability: A genuine willingness to learn and move between different subjects (e.g., helping with food prep in the morning and setting up clay for Art in the afternoon).
- Practical Skills: Basic experience or a strong interest in cooking, DIY, crafting, sewing, or design.
- Organisation: The ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced school environment.
- Safety Conscious: A responsible attitude toward health and safety regulations.
- Team Spirit: Excellent communication skills and a positive, helpful approach with both staff and teenagers.
