At Watergate Bay Hotel, a kitchen is more than a place of work – it’s a vibrant, fast‑paced environment where teamwork, care, and pride in craft come together. As our Kitchen Porter, you’ll play an essential role at the heart of our dynamic Zacry’s team. With your dedication, reliability, and eye for detail, you’ll help maintain a kitchen that is clean, organised, and ready for creativity to flourish.

Beyond keeping things clean and orderly, you’ll be a valued team player, supporting our chefs with basic prep, assisting with deliveries, and helping wherever needed during service. Your positive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile will strengthen collaboration and contribute to a supportive, enjoyable working environment.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the cleaning of all kitchen equipment, utensils, floor and working surfaces in the kitchen and adjacent areas, is carried out satisfactorily.
  • Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and personal hygiene to the standard required by the hotel and by law.
  • Ensuring full refuse bags are removed and replaced promptly, and that full swing bins are removed and replaced immediately, clearing any spillages.
  • Cleaning the floor area daily and at our Head Chef’s discretion.
  • Sweeping and cleaning the corridors and passageways throughout the kitchen.
  • Washing crockery, cutlery and ensuring that work surfaces are clean and tidy.
  • Cleaning all pots in the pot wash area, and maintaining cleanliness of the area.
  • Helping with any preparation needed for daily service.
  • Maintaining an organised, clean and safe workplace, not only for yourself but also for those around.
  • Correctly recording all waste in the appropriate method – no member of staff is to remove any item without first checking with a supervisor and completing the kitchen wastage book.

What we’re looking for:

  • A flexible attitude to working hours and variable shift patterns.
  • Interest and passion for the food industry.
  • Previous experience within a similar role.
  • A team‑player mindset.
  • Guest service focus with attention to detail.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • A genuine care about our team and our wider environment.

What we can offer in return:

  • A relaxed, professional place to work in a beautiful location – at one of the UK’s most striking beaches.
  • A welcoming team, eager to support and encourage each other.
  • Excellent career prospects in an ever‑expanding organisation.
  • Special rates for you and your friends and family to stay at the hotel.
  • Team discounts on treatments in the Swim Club.
  • Discounts for you and your friends and family at Zacry’s, The Beach Hut, and Living Space Restaurants.
  • Team discount at our Cubs coffeeshops.
  • Team discounts at Shop on the Beach and other partner businesses.
  • Free surf lessons, surfboards and wetsuits hire from Wavehunters.
  • Team social events throughout the year.
  • Team assistance scheme – a dedicated helpline for support & advice on topics from mental health through to managing your finances.

Our commitment to our staff is reflected in our exceptional working environment – one that promotes work‑life balance, professional development, and a positive culture where everyone is heard and supported, always.
