Our Housekeeping Porter role

As our Housekeeping Porter, you'll provide a warm welcome and assist guests with their arrival and departure, ensuring their stay is smooth and memorable.

From transporting luggage and escorting guests to their rooms to sharing helpful information about our facilities and services, you’ll help set the tone for every stay and share the warmth and spirit of Watergate Bay Hotel.

You’ll take pride in what you do, enjoy working with people, have a good eye for detail and love creating memorable experiences for our guests.

In return, we’ll support you from day one with training and encouragement, helping you build the skills and confidence to thrive in the role.

This is a full-time position, working five days out of seven, from 10am–4pm, including weekends. As part of the role, you’ll also need to hold a clean driving licence.

  • What we’re looking for
  • Confidence and ability to safely operate a work van
  • Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling and heavy lifting
  • Availability to work weekends
  • Previous housekeeping experience is desirable
  • Previous experience in a similar hotel, facilities, or maintenance role is preferred, but not essential
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude
  • A keen eye for detail and pride in your work
  • Flexible and willing to support other departments when needed
  • A helpful, team-focused approach and a willingness to go the extra mile
  • A full, clean driving licence and be aged 25 or over (for insurance purposes)
  • What you’ll be responsible for
  • Assisting guests with their luggage during check-in and check-out, providing a friendly and helpful service
  • Collecting, transporting and sorting used hotel laundry ready for collection by our laundry supplier
  • Collecting and distributing fresh laundry to Housekeeping cupboards throughout the hotel
  • Keeping Housekeeping cupboards and pantries well stocked, organised and maintained
  • Ensuring departments have the appropriate linen and equipment needed to clean guest rooms, corridors and communal areas
  • Keeping hotel corridors clear of used laundry, equipment and other items collected from guest rooms
  • Supporting our Housekeeping team with room cleaning during busy periods
  • Assisting with guest room moves by safely relocating guests’ luggage
