We’re here to share the joy of Watergate Bay for everyone, now and for the future, and our Discovery Programme has been designed to give you a true, hands-on experience of Watergate Bay Hotel life. You’ll move across departments, build practical skills, and gain an understanding of how a busy hotel operates.
What to expect
Our Discovery Programme offers a structured, multi-department placement designed to build skills and experience and supports you to carve a clear career path for your future. It will also commence in June.
What we’re looking for
- A positive, proactive attitude
- Enthusiasm for outstanding hospitality, food, and drink
- A curiosity to learn, get involved, and develop skills
- The ability to work as part of a team
- Previous experience in a customer-facing environment (preferred but not essential)
The areas you’ll explore
- Housekeeping (2 months)
- Learn the fundamentals of Housekeeping
- Spend time as a Housekeeping Assistant and Porter
- Sharpen your skills by shadowing a Self-Checker and Supervisor
- Food and Beverage (3 months)
- Accrue essential service skills across a variety of restaurants and bars
- Equip yourself with the skills to thrive in fast-paced culinary environments
- Develop a true understanding of outstanding guest service
- Hosts and House Management (4 months)
- Learn how to make a great first impression
- Explore operations from a leadership perspective
- Discover management through the lens of our Host team
Training and development
Over the duration of the programme, you’ll have the opportunity to gain the following qualifications:
- Barista training
- A WSET Level 1 qualification
You’ll also have:
- Access to training through the Cornwall Hospitality Collective (CHC)
- The opportunity to apply to complete a Management or Supervisory apprenticeship
- A dedicated mentor to support your development
- Time with our Central Team at The Hangar
- Time to explore life beyond the bay in one of our sister locations
