We are a young company, funded by private equity and government contracts, and led by experienced innovators. You’ll join as our Senior Hydrogen Engineer or Hydrogen Engineer into a growing team based in Coventry (CV3), with trial locations further afield.

Our technology has many applications across the globe. Not only will you help create zero emission hydrogen (the fuel of the future) you’ll also aid in the fight against water scarcity, disease, and inequality.

Career Stage

An ideal role for a Hydrogen Engineer or Scientist with 3-5 years’ experience in Industry.

Your Role

You’ll join a growing multidisciplined engineering team that is scaling up new innovations from our lab and workshop to meet the requirements of our customers. You will have oversight of the gas management, processing, transport and storage.

You will have experience in gas handling from feasibility through detailed design, assembly and commissioning. Ideally with some experience in the water sector, you will be a technical expert in all things gas and hydrogen. Knowledge of safety standards is key. Role is in person – we are a multidisciplinary team and collaboration with other engineers and scientists is key.

Typical duties will include…

· The end-to-end process of a project/programme life cycle from a hydrogen gas management perspective

· Deploy clear design phases for projects. This would include; collecting design requirements, feasibility, detailed design, production planning, installation and commissioning.

· Gathering data and using data to aid your projects

· Communicating and driving the adherence to Gas Engineering Safety Standards (IGEM, BSI PAS) and Specifications. This would include safety and adherence to DSEAR regulations

· Provide insights on system constraints and innovative solutions for deployment and maintenance of new hydrogen assets.

· Develop methods and protocols for the safe collection, containment, and distribution methods, with specific focus on including systems for fuel cell integration and other pressurised storage options.

· Support the R&D team in best practices for managing hydrogen within experimental settings.

· Work with our mechatronic, electrical and mechanical engineers to ensure that there is holistic view of how things are designed and deployed.

· Lead risk assessments and implement safety protocols to manage the inherent risks of hydrogen storage and transport.

· Regularly monitor and inspect hydrogen systems to ensure optimal performance and continuous safety.

· Implement data-driven strategies for improving system efficiency and reliability.

· Develop and deliver training programs for staff on hydrogen safety and emergency response procedures.

· Guide team members and support knowledge transfer on hydrogen systems and best practices.

Qualifications

· Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

· Proven experience in hydrogen or gas piping engineering, with a focus on hydrogen safety and system design. Experience with Swagelok pipework or other similar experience desired.

· In-depth knowledge of hydrogen handling standards (e.g., IGEM, BSI PAS) and familiarity with the Hydrogen Competency Framework.

· Familiarity with microbial electrolysis cells, water electrolysis cells and fuel cells a plus.

· Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities.

· Role reports to: Chief Engineer

· Annual renumeration: £38-55k + Pension

· Ample training opportunities and qualification support (e.g. Agile PM, Chartership support, Lean Six Sigma).

· Holiday allowance: 25 days + bank holidays + Christmas shutdown

· Typical working hours: 37.5 hour per week
