Our client is an environmental and waste management company operating a permitted hazardous waste transfer station in Cheshire. The Company supports a wide range of clients in the safe and environmentally responsible disposal of their hazardous waste. Due to expansion, a vacancy currently exists for a Technical Assessor. The main purpose of the role is to conduct desk-based pre-acceptance analysis/screening of enquiries and incoming waste streams.
Main Duties:
- Conducting Pre-Acceptance assessments and screening
- Assess the information given by waste producers to ensure that any material offered for disposal can be properly characterised and confirm suitability for receipt on site, in line with current legislation.
- Correctly classify materials in accordance with all relevant current legislation and guidance.
- Create waste profiles on the site’s database to a standard suitable for use in creating legally compliant waste transport documents, for the movement of both hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
- Keep up to date with changes in legislation and guidance documents that relate to the handling and classification of industrial waste.
- Provide guidance and support to commercial staff and senior management regarding the classification, transportation and handling of industrial waste.
Candidate Requirements:
- Minimum HNC level in Chemistry (or applicable scientific field)
- At least 1 year’s experience in hazardous waste management
- Detailed knowledge of guidance on the classification and assessment of waste (Technical Guidance WM3 Waste Classification)
- ADR/CDG awareness training.
This is a full-time, permanent opportunity working 40 hours a week Mon-Fri, 07:00 - 16:00.
