Are you an experienced leader in hazardous waste, incineration, or chemical processing? Our client – a market-leading processor of hazardous materials – is looking for a Shift Manager to join their primary site on the South Coast. Reporting to the Site Operations Manager, you’ll lead a team of Process Supervisors, Operators, and Chemists across a 24-hour shift pattern, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of a highly regulated plant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee site operations during your shift to ensure full compliance with environmental regulations and health & safety policies.
- Act as an authorised issuer of Permits to Work, following permit and isolation procedures.
- Ensure that team members only perform tasks for which they are trained and competent.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Department to coordinate planned and reactive works safely and efficiently.
- Support the HAZID/HAZOP process for new projects from concept through to completion.
- Drive team performance, prioritising safety and productivity within environmental compliance frameworks.
- Lead training and development, including monitoring progress through competency task books.
- Conduct performance reviews in line with company processes.
What We’re Looking For:
- Degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Engineering, or a related subject.
- Background in hazardous waste, incineration, or chemical process sectors preferred.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience managing operational teams in high-risk environments.
- Solid understanding of Health & Safety legislation.
- IT literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Desirable:
- FLT licence
- First Aid trained
