About the Role
This is a pivotal technical and coordination role, acting as the essential link between complex environmental data and final regulatory outputs. Reporting to the National Landfill Manager (NLM) for day-to-day operations, you will work with a high degree of autonomy to streamline auditing processes and ensure the delivery of accurate, compliant, and defensible technical outcomes. Working closely with AEA’s Landfill team, you will contribute to projects that demand precision, analytical thinking, and a strong understanding of environmental monitoring systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse complex environmental data from landfill monitoring programs to identify trends, risks, and compliance issues
- Assist in the detailed review of technical reports, work plans, and site investigations
- Prepare and draft high-quality technical reports and professional correspondence for regulatory submission
- Develop clear, evidence-based recommendations to minimise environmental impacts
- Liaise with clients to clarify and validate monitoring data and technical assessments
- Participate in occasional site visits (approximately every 4–6 weeks) to strengthen technical understanding of landfill operations
What Your Day Looks Like
This is primarily a desk-based analytical role, focused on interpreting environmental data and translating findings into clear, actionable insights. You’ll balance multiple projects, collaborate with technical experts, and ensure all outputs meet stringent regulatory requirements—while occasionally visiting sites to maintain practical context.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Civil/Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an environmental science, engineering, or similar technical role (landfill experience preferred)
- Strong ability to interpret and extract key insights from complex environmental reports and datasets
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data analysis) and Word (professional report writing)
- Excellent written communication skills with a high level of grammatical accuracy
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data integrity
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Experience in consultancy, industry, or regulatory environments highly regarded
