About the Role

We’re recruiting a confident and experienced individual to join our team as a Team Manager within Environmental Enforcement. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will oversee a team of Enforcement Officers, ensuring high standards of performance, professionalism, and compliance while maintaining a visible presence on the ground. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading from the front, supporting a team in a fast-paced outdoor environment, and making a direct impact on local communities.

Waste Investigations Support & Enforcement (WISE) works in partnership with Local Authorities across the UK to tackle environmental crime, including littering, fly-tipping, dog fouling and duty of care offences. Using industry expertise, trained officers and modern technology, we deliver visible, fair and effective enforcement that helps keep boroughs clean and safe.

A Day in the Life

  • Leading and managing a team of Environmental Enforcement Officers on daily patrols
  • Monitoring team performance and ensuring targets are met
  • Providing on-the-ground support, guidance, and coaching to officers
  • Issuing on the spot Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs)
  • Handling escalated situations and supporting officers with complex interactions
  • Conducting patrols across town centres, high-footfall areas, and residential streets
  • Ensuring all enforcement activity is carried out professionally and in line with procedures
  • Reviewing reports, evidence, and documentation for accuracy and compliance
  • Liaising with senior management and council representatives
  • Delivering briefings, feedback sessions, and ongoing training to the team

You will spend a significant portion of your time outdoors, supporting your team and maintaining a strong operational presence.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or management role (ideally in enforcement, security, or a similar field)
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confident handling challenging situations and resolving conflict
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Competent IT skills (reporting and performance tracking)
  • Proactive, reliable, and professional at all times
  • A full driving licence is essential
