Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
- Complete month-end close and reconciliation processes (P&L and balance sheet) and review specific financial balances within the consolidated accounts.
- Support the Finance Manager and Talent team to deliver accurate month-end reporting, including revenue and billing schedules, departmental P&Ls, and cost summaries.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and post payroll, accrual, and re-class journals.
- Contribute to monthly management packs with financial insights, variance analysis, and commentary.
- Support annual budgeting and monthly reforecast cycles for six Team Sports divisions with accurate and up-to-date information.
- Maintain and enhance financial controls, escalating issues as needed.
- Communicate athlete remittances and manage ongoing relationships, addressing queries related to payments, commissions, taxes, invoicing, and support requests.
- Manage athlete Master files, ensuring accurate recording of contracts, sponsorships, bonuses, appearance fees, and invoicing timelines.
- Prepare future billing schedules, onboard customers, support collections, and communicate outstanding debts.
- Manage weekly payment runs, including invoice approval, supplier onboarding, bank validation, and payment tracking.
- Liaise with the Shared Service Centre for invoice processing.
- Review and approve employee expenses, ensuring proper coding and allocation.
- Manage external audits, liaise with auditors, respond to queries, and support the preparation of annual accounts.
- Submit quarterly VAT returns, ensure deadlines are met, and coordinate with tax accountants for compliance activities.
- Handle ad hoc requests from stakeholders and management.
- Assist the Finance Manager and Director in achieving operational goals.
- Participate in review meetings and finance projects as needed.
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent); study support available.
- Experience in management accounting, preferably in sports, events, or entertainment sectors.
- Strong skills in financial reporting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail and multitasking ability.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial systems (e.g., Workday, SAP, Oracle).
- Self-starter with ownership mindset, proactive in addressing inquiries, and diligent in task completion.
- Effective communication skills for liaising with stakeholders.
