Level 2 Teaching Assistant (Secondary)

This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiasticpractitioners to join Washwood Heath Academy and work with us as part of theteam.

Starting as soon as possible, we wish to appointa Teaching Assistant to join our existing Inclusion team in the Secondary Phaseof the Academy. The purpose of the post is to carry out a range of duties thatenable students with learning needs to fully access standard and differentiatedcurriculum activities. The post holders will work closely with all othermembers of the Inclusion team and teachers to promote high standards ofinclusion and learning opportunities.

The core purpose of this role is to:

  • Support students with SEND and EAL needs in classand out of class
  • Work with class teachers to raise the learningand attainment of students
  • Promote students' independence, self-esteem andsocial inclusion
  • Provide support to students, individually or ingroups, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning and experiencea sense of achievement

Duties will include:

  • Contributing to effective assessment and planningby supporting the monitoring, recording and reporting of pupil performance andprogress as appropriate to the level of the role
  • Using allocated time to devise clearly structuredactivities that interest and motivate learners and advance their learning
  • Providing cover for colleagues when required
  • Providing high quality learning resources for allstudents though the use of adaptations and differentiation
  • Liaising with parents/carers/outside agencieswhere appropriate
  • Communicating their knowledge and understandingof students to other school staff and education, health and social careprofessionals, so that informed decision making can take place on interventionand provision
