Catering Assistant
Location: Washington Academy
Salary: Grade 2 SCP 3 - 4 - £10,801.45 - £10,971.35
Contract: Permanent – Part time 17.5 hours per week, working term time plus 5 days
Start Date: July 2026
About the Role
As a Catering Assistant, you will work alongside the Catering Manager and team to ensure the smooth running of our school catering provision. You will help prepare and serve food, maintain high hygiene standards, and provide excellent customer service to our students and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting in the preparation and cooking of food and beverages
- Setting up service counters and displays, serving food in an attractive and efficient manner
- Cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils, and dining areas to maintain hygiene standards
- Assisting with the receipt and safe storage of deliveries
- Supporting with cash handling where applicable (training will be provided)
What We’re Looking For
- Can provide excellent customer service
- Has basic food preparation skills (training will be provided)
- Is committed to maintaining high hygiene and safety standards
- Is willing to undertake relevant training, including a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
- Is enthusiastic about working in a school environment
Experience of working in a catering role or educational setting would be advantageous but is not essential.
