This role involves creating and implementing scalable, reliable, and secure cloud solutions. The engineer will collaborate closely with infrastructure & development teams to facilitate continuous integration (CI), migration, and continuous deployment (CD) processes, ensuring seamless and efficient cloud operations. Monitor and optimize cloud resource usage for cost-efficiency. Configure and manage Azure services (e.g., Virtual Machines, App Service, SQL Database, Storage). Use automation tools to streamline development (e.g. ADO, Bicep, Terraform, etc.) Cloud Operations: Act as 4th Line Support for day-to-day cloud operations to ensure high availability and performance. Monitor resources, respond to incidents, and conduct root cause analysis. Review existing operations and generate ideas for continuous improvement Architecture: Assist with internal and external cloud architectural components (Compute, Networking, and Security) to ensure they align with the overall cloud architecture. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality and accuracy. Ensure solutions meet objectives and service level agreements (SLAs), providing seamless and robust cloud services that support business needs Information Security: Implement required security measures such as hardening, firewalls or message encryption, monitoring performance. Monitor and address security vulnerabilities and threats. Implement security by design FinOps: Conduct cost analyses to identify variances and inefficiencies. Develop and implement cost optimization strategies. Monitor cloud spending and recommend cost-saving measures (e.g. Reserved Instances) Knowledge: Ability to familiarise yourself with the environment, source systems, data flows and understand how they can be leveraged to meet new customer requirements is going to be an essential skill.Demonstrable knowledge in seeing the Big Picture and supporting organisational objectives, in moving to a digitally excellent organisation.Significant knowledge of adopting and enforcing governance and assurance methods.Confidently share knowledge of security best practices and compliance frameworks i.e. ISO 27001, GDPR and ITILFamiliarity with business and technical concepts such as business process design, service management, applications, servers, networks and security (both technical and process).Understands complex business problems and commercial frameworks and how to apply a logical, systematic approach to arrive at an appropriate solution.Desirable: Strong knowledge of designing, implementing and migrating applications into Microsoft Azure.
