About the Team

The Workforce Support Officer — Payroll is based in Warwick within the Payroll Team, part of Workforce Services. This role is essential to ensuring Warwickshire County Council’s payroll operations are conducted accurately and promptly, supporting both colleagues and clients. As part of the payroll team, you will utilise modern systems and collaborate with dedicated professionals, all working towards the shared goal of delivering correct payments the first time, every time.

About the Role

  • Plan and execute payroll operations in accordance with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs), prioritising both quality and timeliness.
  • Provide advanced system support across payroll, pensions, and employee benefits, including inputting, interrogating, and reporting on payroll data to ensure correct payments are processed.
  • Maintain comprehensive process guidance, assist with internal and client audits, and promote data quality and housekeeping standards.
  • Deliver training on payroll software to colleagues and clients and lead small-scale improvement projects to enhance service delivery.
  • Resolve customer queries (using platforms such as iTrent, Five9, and Hornbill) with professionalism and confidentiality.

Key Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience managing high-volume and complex payroll or financial records, with the ability to reconcile large datasets, quickly identify anomalies, and maintain accuracy at scale.
  • Strong IT proficiency, especially in Excel, with the capability to independently interpret and analyse information to resolve issues.
  • Exceptional organisational and prioritisation skills suited to a fast-paced environment, along with clear, confident communication and discretion.
  • Desirable: CIPD Level 3 / CIPP qualification or relevant experience or currently working towards certification.
