We are looking for a driven and ambitious individual to join our Democratic Services team here at Warwickshire County Council. Working within Legal and Governance, you will be managing a team delivering a wide ranging and complex service, responsible for compliant, robust and innovative delivery of our Democratic Service function. You will be at the front line of ensuring we maintain our reputation for solid governance and working closely with members and supported by colleagues within our award-winning Legal Service.

About the role: You'll deliver outstanding democratic and governance support to members, senior officers and colleagues ensuring the continued high standards of our Democratic Services team and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements within those areas. You will play an active role as part of our service team working in partnership with colleagues to innovate our service delivery capabilities. You'll need sharp problem-solving skills and the ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure, collaborating with our friendly and supportive team of professionals. You will also need to be willing to learn and adapt to the challenging, ever-changing public sector legal environment.

Experience and qualifications: In terms of experience, you should have a demonstrable track record of delivering governance support in a fast paced and innovative public sector environment. You must have the skills needed to lead in accordance with our behaviours and have experience of advising and supporting in a senior capacity in relation to Democratic Services and Scrutiny functions. A knowledge of electoral law and experience of managing elections will be an advantage. Most importantly, you must be a leader and have the ambition to learn in order to provide the best support to your team and the organisation.

The Fluency Duty is outlined in the Code of Practice on the English language requirements for public sector workers. The Fluency Duty for this role is Required. You must be able to speak and provide advice in accurate spoken English to the public.
