Infrastructure Support Officer FTC 12 Months

We are looking for an organised, proactive and customer-focused ICT Infrastructure Support Officer to join our Customer and Digital Services team on a temporary 12-month basis. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in an important infrastructure project, supporting the Council’s move from analogue PSTN telephone lines to digital telephony.

The postholder will help plan, coordinate and deliver the upgrade of telephone and broadband lines across Council sites, working closely with internal service areas, ICT colleagues and external suppliers.

• Coordinate and support the migration of the Council’s PSTN telephone network from analogue to digital services.
• Liaise with internal service areas, telephone line owners, contractors and external telephony providers to plan and schedule upgrade activity.
• Maintain accurate records, documentation and project information to support the delivery of the digital telephony programme.
• Support ICT Infrastructure colleagues with infrastructure administration, problem resolution and changes.
• Assist with documentation, invoicing and general administration for the Infrastructure team.
• Travel to Council sites across the district to meet contractors and support implementation activity.

We are looking for someone who is well organised, confident communicating with a range of people and able to manage competing priorities. You will have experience of ICT support and an understanding of telephone lines, broadband services and related setup, billing and support arrangements. You will need to be comfortable working with both technical colleagues and non-technical service users, and able to build positive working relationships with internal and external partners.

Experience of project coordination, meeting deadlines and delivering good customer service will be important. You should be educated to at least two A levels, including one in an ICT subject, and have 1–2 years’ experience in ICT support. Knowledge of ICT infrastructure technologies and project management experience would be an advantage.

You will need access to private transport and be able to regularly travel across the district to meet appointments with telephony suppliers and other ICT remote site tasks. The council will reimburse up to 55 pence per mile claimed.

You will be working within the ICT Services Infrastructure Team who manage the council's telephony, networks, servers, backups and databases. This post will be mainly supporting the upgrade of the Council's telephony and broadband circuits across the district.
