HGV Technician

You will be responsible carrying out general maintenance and servicing on a vast array of makes and models, primarily on gritting vehicles and fire appliances. This includes engine, transmission and chassis repairs and diagnosis, electrical work and MOT prep. A class 4,5 and 7 MOT testers qualification is desirable.

Qualifications

• Level 3 NVQ in heavy goods vehicle maintenance, or relevant qualification
• Good understanding of vehicle diagnosis
• Understanding of vehicle compliance requirements
• Good communication skills to liaise with Supervisors, other Technicians, customers and suppliers. The Fluency Duty is outlined in the Code of Practice on the English language requirements for public sector workers. The Fluency Duty for this role is required; you must be able to speak and provide advice in accurate spoken English to the public.
• An NPPV check is required for individuals who are to be appointed due to frequent and uncontrolled access to government assets.

This is a full-time permanent role working 37 hours per week.
