About the Role

ThinkHigher is a partnership of several stakeholders and are externally funded by the Office for Students on an annual basis. We work at pace and enjoy developing and managing evidence-led projects from start to finish within the academic year. We work with schools, colleges, universities, local authorities, businesses, charities and grassroots movements, such as Boys’ Impact.

This role as Logistics and Events Coordinator is central to the planning and coordination of ThinkHigher events and activities. You will support the effective delivery of larger events and activities, including campus visits, IAG activities and engagement with teachers and other education professionals. You will work closely with colleagues and partners to coordinate the practical arrangements and communications for events and activities, while also providing project coordination and support across other ThinkHigher projects.

The day-to-day work is varied and involves working with a wide range of partners and managing changing priorities. You may also be required to contribute directly to the delivery of events and activities. We meet as a full team a couple of days per week to ensure a strong teamwork ethic and appreciate the benefits of working from home or other third spaces to allow for deep working or flexible hours to fit around caring responsibilities.

Please direct any informal enquiries to Ellis Ryan (ThinkHigher Data, Operations and Partnerships Manager) e.ryan.1@warwick.ac.uk.

About You

You are an organised and proactive coordinator who can manage a varied workload and keep track of multiple priorities and deadlines. You will have experience of coordinating events, activities or projects and will be confident working with a wide range of stakeholders, including colleagues in universities and colleges, local authorities, schools and other partner organisations.

You will have excellent communication skills and be able to build positive working relationships with people at different levels and across different organisations. You will be confident communicating both verbally and in writing and will be able to produce clear and accurate information for a range of audiences.

You will have strong organisational and IT skills, with experience of using spreadsheets, databases and other digital systems. You will be comfortable working with financial information and have a high level of attention to detail. Experience of coordinating events or activities involving multiple stakeholders would be particularly useful.

You will be able to work independently, use your initiative and take a practical approach to solving problems. You will be able to work effectively under pressure, adapt when priorities change and manage competing deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work.

An understanding of higher education and widening participation is essential, as is the ability to build positive working relationships across organisational boundaries. Experience of working in higher education, schools or colleges, the public sector or a not-for-profit organisation would be valuable, as would experience of working with young people who face barriers to accessing or succeeding in education.

You will be passionate about equality of opportunity for young people and motivated by the opportunity to contribute to work that supports young people to make ambitious and well-informed choices about their futures.

Above all, you will be someone who enjoys working collaboratively, is willing to get involved in a broad range of activities and is comfortable taking a hands‑on approach when needed to support successful events and programmes.

ThinkHigher is one of the 29 Uni Connect partnerships, funded by the Office for Students, and includes The University of Warwick, Coventry University, Warwickshire College Group, North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College, Careers and Enterprise Company, Coventry City Council and Warwickshire County Council (including the virtual schools).

Our vision is to establish authentic relationships with students, families and educators to influence their decision making and ensure all young people in the region make informed and ambitious decisions about their future.

ThinkHigher works on an outreach basis, delivering programmes that support students in schools and post-16 settings across Coventry, Warwickshire and Hinckley.

ThinkHigher aims to:

  • Contribute to reducing the gap in higher education participation.
  • Equip young and adult learners from underrepresented groups to make an informed choice about their future options.
  • Support a strategic local infrastructure of universities, colleges and other partners.
  • Contribute to a stronger evidence base around ‘what works’ in higher education outreach and strengthen evaluation practice across the sector.

We strive to be inclusive and welcoming, creating safe spaces for colleagues and students to thrive in, embedding anti‑racist approaches and providing a powerful voice to underrepresented young people who are at the heart of what we do.

We are conscious of systemic barriers to equality of opportunity and seek to break these down, evaluate robustly and promote best practice. We believe in social equality and draw from the lived experiences of our young people, along with a range of partnership networks, to contribute towards a fairer, more equitable society.

Our flexible working environment encourages autonomy, mastery and a shared sense of purpose, allowing for some home working whilst maintaining a strong teamworking ethic.

We encourage a sense of belonging and shared understanding within our projects, with our work being underpinned by the following values:

Together: working together with our students, our schools, our partners and our team to help our students believe in themselves.

Empower: recognising the potential in all, supporting everyone to recognise it in themselves and encouraging everyone to set goals and achieve their aspirations.

Authentic: being open and honest, respecting and accepting everyone for who they are and valuing each unique individual while encouraging those around us to do the same.

We will provide you with a great range of benefits, which include an attractive pension scheme, a generous holiday allowance plus Christmas closure, excellent learning and development opportunities, and savings on a wide range of products and services. We offer a generous maternity/paternity/adoption/parental leave policy, and onsite childcare facilities.

We recognise the importance of a healthy work/life balance and offer you access to flexible working, for more information.
