This role sits within the Functional Polymer Nanocomposites group and focuses on advanced polymer research. The postholder will conduct cutting‑edge research in sustainable elastomer manufacturing, contribute to the department’s research strategy, and support the development of early‑career researchers.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on advanced polymer and nanocomposites, focusing on polymer chemistry and reactive processing.
- Manage and contribute to research programmes and support early‑career researchers.
- Publish high‑quality research outputs.
- Contribute to the Department’s research strategy, including reporting on progress and supporting REF‑related activities.
- Liaise with industry partners to understand challenges and priorities, and support externally funded research through grants and contracts.
About You
- Hold a PhD in polymer chemistry, polymer science and engineering, or a related field with a strong grounding in polymer synthesis, processing and characterisation.
- Have expertise in elastomers or nanocomposites, with knowledge of rubber and elastomer technologies being an advantage.
- Demonstrate a strong research profile and the ability to plan, deliver and communicate research effectively.
- Be able to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment, contributing positively to team‑based projects and departmental objectives.
- Have experience supervising students or the potential to do so; postdoctoral or relevant industrial experience is desirable.
- Commit to inclusive practice, health and safety, and active participation in departmental life, and be motivated to contribute to Warwick’s mission of research excellence and impact.
