Main Duties of the Job

As a salaried GP, you will manage and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients. You will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

You will recognise the importance of great communication within the team and will strive to:

Job Responsibilities

In accordance with the agreed job plan, the salaried GP will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including:

  • Surgery consultations, telephone consultations, telephone triage, visiting patients, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, processing clinical documentation, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
  • Participate in the duty doctor rota.
  • Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems.
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Cover all the clinical management of the patients in surgery as appropriate.
  • Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients.
  • Ensure appropriate follow up of patients.
  • Record clear and contemporaneous computerised consultation notes.
  • Prescribe generically wherever appropriately.
  • Comply with all the objectives of the QOF targets.
  • Complete reports for solicitors, insurance companies and other third parties.
  • Work with and support other members of the primary health care team.
  • Take an active role in delivering clinical governance.
  • Promote preventative health care and advice where appropriate.
  • Lead on training, supervising and supporting learners.

  • Work in accordance with NCPC agreed clinical procedures and protocols.
  • Commitment to achieving the highest possible quality standards in clinical care.

  • Contribute to evaluation, audit and clinical standard setting.
  • Attend training and events organised by the practice or other agencies.
  • Participate in practice clinical meetings.
  • Provide information when reasonably requested.
  • Participate in the GP revalidation and appraisal scheme.
  • Maintain a portfolio of continuing professional development activities.

Salary: £89,114.50 to £117,392.60 a year, starting salary dependent on experience.
