We are currently working with a well-established organisation within the façade and construction sector who are seeking an experienced and technically strong Technical Services Manager to lead their Technical Services function based in Birmingham. This is a key leadership position, responsible for overseeing technical delivery, supporting commercial activity, and driving high standards across a multi-functional technical department.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background from a façade, aluminium systems, or wider construction design environment, combined with proven experience in leading and developing technical teams.
The Technical Services Manager will take full ownership of the Technical Services function, ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical support across internal teams, customers, and external stakeholders. Working closely with Sales, Marketing, and wider technical functions, you will play a key role in ensuring a consistent, commercially focused and technically robust approach across all project activity.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the Technical Services Department
- Develop and support a high-performing technical team
- Ensure delivery of accurate, compliant, and commercially effective technical output
- Act as a senior point of technical authority within the business
- Provide expert technical support to customers, prospects, and internal teams
- Produce technical drawings, data, schedules, and calculations to support project wins
- Ensure all technical information is accurate, compliant, and up to date
- Attend client meetings, site visits, and industry events where required
- Support Sales and Marketing teams with technical expertise
- Contribute to securing new business through technical input and solutions
- Promote the business as a leading system supplier within the market
- Deliver cost-effective, high-quality technical solutions
- Maintain accurate records of departmental activity and performance
- Report regularly on KPIs, workload, and team performance to senior leadership
- Use Salesforce to track daily activity and project progress
- Liaise with head office to ensure technical alignment and system accuracy
- Engage with industry bodies and trade associations to maintain compliance and competitiveness
- Conduct regular training, competency reviews, and one-to-one development meetings
- Drive continuous improvement across technical processes and team capability
- Proven experience in a technical role within façade, aluminium systems, or construction
- Strong background in a design office, technical services, or engineering environment
- Demonstrable experience managing and developing a technical team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong CAD skills (2D essential; Revit/3D advantageous)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership
- Experience with Logikal software
- Exposure to Salesforce or similar CRM systems
- Knowledge of façade systems, aluminium products, or related manufacturing environments
