The role
- You’ll lead smaller commissions and manage defined workstreams within larger programmes, taking responsibility for delivery, from scoping and design through to insight, reporting and client engagement.
- You’ll play a key role in shaping evidence‑based recommendations, supporting business development, and acting as a trusted adviser to both clients and colleagues.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and deliver consultancy‑focused research projects and workstreams
- Translate complex evidence into clear, decision‑ready insights
- Design and lead qualitative research, including interviews, focus groups and workshops
- Manage projects to agreed budgets, timelines and quality standards
- Draft high‑quality reports, briefings and presentations for senior audiences
- Contribute to bids, proposals and client development activity
- Provide informal leadership, mentoring and quality assurance
- Represent the organisation confidently with clients, partners and stakeholders
About you
- You’ll bring six or more years’ experience in consultancy, research or a closely related setting, alongside a postgraduate qualification in economic development or a relevant discipline (e.g. economics, geography, planning, statistics or social science).
- You are commercially aware and comfortable working in client‑facing environments
- An excellent writer, able to produce persuasive, well‑structured outputs
- Confident managing projects, priorities and stakeholders
- Experienced in contributing to tenders and proposals
- Thoughtful and responsible in your use of AI and digital tools
- Clear, credible and professional in written and spoken English
